Did you mean:

Restrict the visibility to some comments to a specific group

Saif Allah AZZAZA June 6, 2025

Hi!

I’d like to limit the visibility of certain comments to a specific group. Currently, all comments are visible to everyone (creators, contributors, etc.).

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

HI @Saif Allah AZZAZA , JPD doesn't support permissions at that level for comments. Thanks for the feedback.

A potential workaround is to publish the view you want to share with specific stakeholders, and hide all comments there.

Hi Saif

Thanks for your question.

At the moment, Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence do not support restricting the visibility of individual comments to specific user groups (like only creators or only contributors). Comments are visible to all users who have access to the issue or page.

Workaround:
If you're using Jira, you can:

Use the "Comment visibility" option when adding a comment.

Choose to restrict the comment to a specific Project Role (e.g., Developers) or Group.

How to do it:

Click on “Add comment.”

Before posting, click the lock icon next to the “Share with” dropdown.

Select the role or group that should see the comment.

This way, only the selected users can view that comment.

If you're using Confluence, unfortunately, individual comments can't be restricted. You can only manage page-level permissions.
