Pulling JPD idea fields from Jira delivery fields using automations

Kemal Solmaz March 27, 2025

Working on an automation rule that pull some of those custom field from delivery tickets (either Epic or Initiative issue type from Jira project) into Idea work team of a JPD project. My attempts are not successful so far, either it overrides the values on the deliver ticket, or automation status "NO ACTIONS PERFORMED" and following result;

Troubleshot those items and updated accordingly, but still there is no succesful attempt that updated the Idea work-item's custom date fields and "Health Status" field with the values from Initiative issue type which linked as "is idea for".

"the issue didn't match the specified JQL (most likely) the chosen rule actor doesn't have permissions (or issue security level permissions) to view the issue the issue was deleted or wasn't indexed by Jira yet (in rare circumstances) We recommend using the 'Issue fields condition' for more consistent results."

Hi @Kemal Solmaz

This question is a later version of this one:

Please close the earlier one to help focus the suggestions.  Thanks!

Back to your question...For a question like this, context is important for the community to help.  Please post the following:

  • what type of project are your delivery tickets in: company-managed or team-managed
  • an image of your complete automation rule in a single image for continuity
  • images of any relevant actions / conditions / branches
  • an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution
  • explain what is not working as expected and why you believe that to be the case.

Until we see those...

From what you have described, I suspect your rule has one of the following: an incorrect scope in the rule details, a JQL error, a branching error, or an incorrect custom field.

Seeing the specifics of your rule will help determine the cause.

Kind regards,
Bill
