JQL doesn't seem to be formatting things properly for JPD items like Project Start and Project Target.
Example result: {"start":"2026-01-01","end":"2026-01-31"} for Project start.
Should be January 1st, 2026

Jira Product Discovery (JPD) uses its own date format, different from the date or date-time picker for other spaces. The JPD format allows selecting a single date, a range, or a quarter, it is a JSON expression stored as text, and thus the JPD date format is not supported by JQL searches yet.
When you need to search / filter on Ideas in a JPD space by date, some workarounds include:

Yes, I agree with your concerns: better JQL support and UX display are needed for this field type outside of JPD features.
