We have a Jira Product Discovery space on the Free plan. The space was created with limited access.
Today, a user with Creator access asked me to give their manager permission to view the contents of the space. To do that, I first had to grant the manager access to the app in admin.atlassian.com, and then grant them access to the space itself.
What’s confusing is that, although they seem to be added as a Contributor at the app level, when assigned within the space they receive administrator permissions for that space.
Can someone explain what’s happening here? I would have expected this to be much simpler.
My understanding is that the Free plan allows unlimited Contributors. Is the issue that this user already has a Jira Software licence, or am I missing something about how Jira Product Discovery permissions work?
Hi Darren, in the Free plan there isn't really different permissions for creators - if you have a license, you can do everything on every JPD space (everyone's basically a space admin)
And if they don't have a JPD license (if you haven't given them creator access in the User section in admin.atlassian.com for JPD - or if you've given them Contributor access), then they can be added as a contributor to any space.
