Is there a way to auto sort field options?

If I create a single-select or multi-select field and have a number of options, is there a way to auto sort based on alphabet? I see the option to manually adjust order, but that is just too tedious to do manually.

Oh yes please! We use the `Key Customers` field extensively, and I have to manually drag and reorder the items on this list. Huge waste of time!

The underlying issue is that when creating a new idea it is not possible to search in a multi-select field.
