How to freeze a JPD roadmap at day d

Hello,

Our company has nearly finalized the product development roadmaps for 2026.

I'd like to create a view in JPD that freezes the ideas planning on a specific "presentation day" in 2025. This would allow us to easily compare planned value against earned value.

Is there a feature in JPD that directly supports creating such a "frozen version" of the JPD view, without needing to export it as a JPEG or PDF?

Thanks,

Hi @Lorenzo Giliberti welcome to the Atlassian Community Forums! 👋

Jira Product Discovery (JPD) is focused on idea prioritization and product planning, but it doesn't natively support Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics like Planned Value (PV) and Earned Value (EV) out of the box.

However, you can approximate or manually track PV vs EV in JPD using custom fields and views. Here’s how you could achieve this with a couple of workarounds:

  1. Create Custom Fields:
    1. Planned Value (Number of Score)
    2. Earned Value (Number - to be updated manually or via automation)
  2. Use Statuses to track completion
    1. Set a delivery status field, this will help determine what is "earned" and what is still planned.
  3. Set target dates: Use the Target Start and Target End fields to know when work was planned.
  4. Create views to compare PV vs EV: You can use a List View or Table View with following colums: Idea, Target End, Status, Planned Value, Earned Value
  5. You can now export this for calculations
  6. Optional: Connect to Jira (Software)
  7. If you want to automated Earned Value: Use Automation for Jira to update the EV field when an Idea reaches a certain status or a certain percentage of linked delivery work items are done.
  8. You'll need to export the data or use a dashboard tool like Jira Dashboard gadgets, eazyBI, or Custom Charts for Jira, Google Sheets or Excel for basic tracking.

Hello Dave,

thanks for your prompt answer ! Actually we do calculate PV, EV, and AC outside of JPD, it was effectively a non-necessary information I added for justifing my request.

Coming back to the original question, it is not possible to have a "frozen view" without exporting anything ? I do like how easy it is to navigate through a JPD view, and , that why I'm asking.

I do understand that duplicate start date and end date values declared at day d (and respectively copy them in equivalent fields e.g. "planned start date" and "planned end date") might be a potential workaround.

Thanks again :)

Hello Lorenzo,

no at the moment you cannot "freeze" the roadmap, the views in JPD otherwise than with export or workarounds.
