How do you add the URL of done Jira EPICs to your JPD product item?

Valerie Cajka June 11, 2025

We are just starting out with JPD and want to go back to the start of the year to get a full view of the products we are adding, so that means adding some EPICs we have already closed. It says you can cut and paste the URL of the closed EPICs but I can't figure out how or where to paste the link once I have copied it.

Hi @Valerie Cajka

Do you mean to add the Epics to the "Delivery" tab for each JPD Idea?  Have you tried adding them from that tab while in JPD?

And, where did you see this guidance:

It says you can cut and paste the URL of the closed EPICs

Kind regards,
Bill

Yes, add to the "Delivery" tab.   You are not able to select anything that is marked as done. They do not show up in the drop down.  On the Delivery tab, under the search box there is a message that says "You can't search work items with the

Done status. Copy-paste the URL to link a work item instead."   I can't figure out how to do the paste.

Thanks for clarifying the scenario!

I just tried this:

  • on the Delivery tab
  • if you past the full URL to the Epic in the Search for a Work Item field it will then appear for selection.  For example:
    • myJiraURL/browse/myEpicKey

That's the issue I am having, for some reason I am not able to paste in that area and when I just type it in it won't bring anything up.

Curious...I had to click on the field first so it was selected and then Control-V to paste into it.

You may also link from the other direction...

  • When viewing the Epic
  • At the top-left of the page, select + Add
  • Link Idea
  • Search and link to the one you want

OK, I am used to right clicking to paste. When I Control-V to paste into it, then it worked. Thank you so much for your help!!!
