Feature Request: Custom Sections in the Idea Details Panel
Hi JPD team and community 👋
I'd love to see the ability to create custom sections of fields within the idea details panel not just the existing fixed sections (Pinned Fields, Fields in this view, Available fields). It would be even better if we could choose which sections of these fields displayed when opening the JPD item as a sidebar in a Jira project where the JPD Idea is linked.
The problem:
As the number of fields in a project grows, the details panel becomes a long, undifferentiated list. There's currently no way to visually group related fields together (e.g. "Engineering Related Fields", "Product Team Fields", "GTM Info") into named, collapsible sections. This makes it harder to scan, fill out, and navigate for our Product Managers.
What I'd like:
- Ability to create named sections in the details panel (similar to how Notion or Linear group properties)
- Optionally, make sections collapsible
- Ideally, sections could be configured per view or per idea type (for those on Premium)
Current workarounds I've tried:
- Using emoji (or even text) prefixes in field names to fake grouping (e.g. "📊 Impact", "📊 Effort") — works but is messy
- Description templates — helps for the description area only, not the fields panel
This would be a big quality-of-life improvement for teams with complex discovery workflows. Would love to know if this is on the roadmap, and if others are feeling the same pain or if someone has a workaround that I haven't thought of!
Thanks 🙏
Hello!
Thanks for sharing your feedback, Jena. I will discuss it with the broader product team.
