Allow archiving boards instead of only deleting them

Currently, the only way to remove a board from the navigation view is to delete it permanently. I'd like the option to archive a board instead, removing it from the nav/sidebar without destroying its data.

Reason why I want this is to preserve history - archiving retains board configuration, filters, and views for audit trails, retrospectives, or future reference, instead of losing that setup entirely.

This will also help in seeing project lifecycle changes. Our boards are tied to completed projects and quarterly work, and often need to be revisited later (e.g., next year's planning cycle) so I want to preserve the views without having to rebuild from scratch.

This functionality doesn't exist, this as a feature suggestion and u have to submit it,

In JPD itself: the left-hand sidebar has a Give feedback option, and inside it "Suggest an improvement." That goes straight to the JPD product team and is the quickest route.

On Atlassian's public feature-request tracker, jira.atlassian.com (often called JAC). This is where suggestions are searchable and votable. Search there first for an existing request to upvote, and if nothing matches, create a new suggestion in the Jira Product Discovery project. One caveat to pass on: JAC is fully public, so no sensitive or customer data in the ticket.

I'd search the existing suggestions there first, as I suspect someone may already have raised something similar that you could add your vote and use case to, which tends to carry more weight than a brand new request. It's also worth posting the idea on the Atlassian public roadmap so other customers can find and upvote it. One reassurance in the meantime: as far as I know, deleting a view doesn't touch the underlying ideas, only that view's layout, so while you'd lose the configuration, the data itself stays safe in the space.
