Ability to add Description field in a List view

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
I'm looking to have the Description field shown as a column in a list view. It doesn't seem to be a field I can add (only a "Short Description" field is available. I've also been told it's not available to add as a Global Field. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
