Hello JPD community!
Last year, we introduced Global fields in Jira Product Discovery to simplify admin work and drive consistency and standardize across teams.
We listened to your feedback to make it even easier for you to discover, manage, and transition to global fields.
You want to replace a space field with a global field but are afraid it will take too much time? No worries, we can help. Once you’ve created your global field and added it to your spaces, go to the fields page and click Migrate values.
You can then safely remove the space field and add the global field to the views.
You can now add global fields to your spaces and your views directly from a view: no need to go to Project settings and the Fields page anymore! This brings visibility to the global fields that already exist and avoids context switching.
You’ve created some global fields, and you’ve noticed your users are still recreating this field as a space field? This is over! When creating a new field, users are now shown suggestions for existing, corresponding global fields, so they can reuse an existing global field and assess whether the creation of a new field is necessary.
We hope these improvements help you standardize and scale your product discovery practices, and as usual don't hesitate to share feedback in the comments below
