Hello Atlassian community,
Portfolio Insights helps you see the full picture of your Data Center environment across your organization. As we've added more capabilities, the experience needed to evolve. Today, we're sharing two updates: a redesigned navigation in Portfolio Insights, and a new dedicated section called Instance Health.
Portfolio Insights now has a lot more to offer than when it first launched. The navigation has been updated into three focused sections.to reflect that.
Cloud Readiness helps you plan your migration. Spot blockers across apps, users, and configuration early. Understand your user counts, schedule backups, and see which projects and spaces are worth migrating.
Instance Health helps you keep your Data Center instances running well. Monitor performance, review security posture, and optimize configurations from one place.
Detected Instances helps you map your entire portfolio. See every Jira and Confluence instance across your organization and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
If you've been using Instance Optimization in Portfolio Insights, you already know the value of configuration-level recommendations for your Data Center instances. Instance Health builds on that foundation. It's a new dedicated section that brings together optimization, performance monitoring, and security checks into a single hub for your Data Center operations.
Already available to connected instances, Instance Optimization analyzes your Jira and Confluence configurations and provides tailored recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary complexity.
It covers areas like:
Unused or redundant schemes, workflows, and custom fields
Configuration changes that can improve performance
Best practices aligned with Atlassian's recommendations
Think of it as a health check for your instance configuration, helping you clean up technical debt and keep things running lean.
We've also added more recommendations since the initial launch, giving you a broader set of actionable improvements.
Diagnosing performance problems in Data Center is difficult. Your existing monitoring tools can tell you something is wrong, but not necessarily why, or what your users are actually experiencing.
Performance Insights adds the missing context. You'll see:
Apdex-based performance health score for key screens like issue view, board view, backlog, dashboard view, create page, publish page, and more
Overall health status and historical trends across 1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or a custom time range
Actionable recommendations tailored to your configuration, for example, identifying Marketplace apps with unusually high database usage so you know exactly which integrations are putting pressure on your system
This doesn't replace your existing monitoring. It complements it with Atlassian-aware diagnostics and the context only we can provide.
Keeping your Data Center instances secure is critical, but staying on top of every vulnerability, configuration gap, and outdated dependency is a lot of manual work.
Security Insights brings that information together in one place. You'll see:
Known vulnerabilities (CVEs) affecting your current version of Jira or Confluence, with severity ratings and links to advisories
Security configuration checks that flag common misconfigurations like open signup, outdated TLS settings, or missing secure headers
Marketplace app security status so you can see which installed apps have known vulnerabilities or are running outdated versions
Prioritized recommendations so you know what to fix first based on severity and exposure
Instead of tracking security advisories across multiple sources, you get a single view of where your instances stand and what needs attention.
Instance Health works best with a live connection to your Data Center instances. But if you can't connect an instance, you can still get insights using Manual Upload.
Here's how it works:
Generate a support.zip for each node in your cluster (use the "Redact data" option to remove sensitive data before uploading)
In Portfolio Insights, go to Instance Health → Upload Support Zip
Review and accept the data consent, select your file, and upload
Once processed, the instance appears in your Instance Health list with an optimization score and recommendations — similar to a connected instance.
Note: Manual uploads don't refresh automatically. Re-upload regularly and upload a support.zip for each node to get a complete view. Each upload supports files up to 500 MB.
Portfolio Insights focuses on configuration and health indicators. It does not collect personally identifiable information or user-generated content. You stay in control through data consent levels when you connect your instances or upload support files.
Connect your instances to Portfolio Insights if you haven't already — How to connect
Explore Instance Health to see optimization scores, performance dashboards, and security checks
Can't connect? Use Manual Upload to get started
