In our use case we have two directories
Directory A
Should only be administered by Users in Group A
Directory B
Should only be administered by Users in Group B
Is this possible to achieve in Crowd?
Hi @Alan Newitt
It depends on what you mean with 'directory administration'.
If you mean that members of Group A can edit Directory A's settings (e.g. password encryption, LDAP server hostname) in Crowd administration console, the answer is no it's not possible. If you are a Crowd's console administrator then you can edit settings of all directories configured in Crowd.
If you mean that members of Group A can manage the members of Directory A's groups, well yes it is almost possible if you have a Crowd Data Center license. Starting from version 3.3, Crowd Data Center actually provides group-level administration. That means for instance that groups "jira-software-users" and "confluence-administrators" in Directory A can be administered by Group A (which means that members of Group A will be able to add/remove users to/from "jira-software-users" and "confluence-administrators"). If you want members of Group A to administer all groups of Directory A, you will have to configure group-level administration on each of Directory A's groups though.
That's very helpful thank you, group-level administration sounds like it will work for us.
