ticket description not updated in "link" after change

Hi. I have a problem when using ticket links in Confluence. I've added a link to a "BI" ticket, in a Confluence table, which showed ok at first. Later on, I changed the description of the BI ticket, but in Confluence, no matter what I do, still shows the old name.

I've tried removing it, and adding it again. No luck.

Also tried changed the text by editing the link, same thing.

At some point I could change the text, but the link changed to a "normal underline" link, rather that to a ticket "object", let's say. Not sure the technical term. Meaning, no blue square, no "open" icon, no "status", nothing. Just a normal underline link as in any webpage.

Here is a screenshot. Left-white is the Confluence page (with the old name). Right-dark is the ticket (with the new name).

Am I missing some extra step?

Thanks a lot,

Hi there,

I did a test of this in my instance and found the following:

  • I created a new page and added a link to a Jira item that displayed the summary, as in your screenshot.
  • I updated the summary of the Jira item.
  • I tried many different ways to trigger a re-fetching of the Jira item data and could not find a way to successfully do this manually.
  • I found this knowledge article that mentions that Confluence has a TTL of 5 minutes. (The article is for Confluence Data Center, but I tested in the next step and think 5 minutes may be accurate for Cloud as well)
  • I waited 5 minutes, refreshed the page, and saw the updated summary in the Jira Item link on the page.

Seems there's a caching that happens every 5 minutes (or however often, I can't find a place to actually confirm what the timing for this is) and any references to work items will point to the cache instead of the live item until the re-caching happens.

thanks a lot. I just refreshed the page (today, after I saw this issue yesterday) and in fact it's updated :)
