status macro - update the RYG text and pre-populate based upon color

I want to change the green, yellow, etc. text with the verbiage (on track, issues, etc.) so that when a user selects green the text is automatically displayed based upon the color and the user does not need to type the text related to the color.

is this possible?  how?

This is a case where user macros are your friend. And I wrote an article about a very similar use case (user selects status from a pull down, and it formats a status macro, setting the color).
