search function finding previous versions of documemt

If I search for the name of a document in the search box in confluence i will get search results from both current document (linked document from confluence site) and previous versions of the document. 

The links on the confluence page is a shortcut to a document under "attachments" on the page and an advantage of confluence to us is to not have to delete previous versions of document.

Is there anyway around this?
