Did you mean:

"Did you mean" and german umlauts

nexnova October 25, 2011

I have a little "German" Problem, hope someone knows a solution:

In Germany we have the letters ä ö and ü very often in our Keywords. But it is possible to spell an ö like oe f.e. It depends on the authors ideas :)

So if someone writes a word like "Oel" into the seach-inputfield (which means oil), than you can't find it by seaching for "Öl" (same in the other direction, looking for "Oel" when there is "Öl" in text). Is there a possibility to fix that issue by the "did you mean..." function, or maybe another function?

The "did you mean" index currently only supports English, that is, the indexing Language must be set to English for "did you mean" even to be available.

Therefore I'm not sure how this could possibly work for suggesting hits to German content.

I would vote for https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-14768.
