never used the product before- Someone sent me a document asking for edits. once edits are made how do I save them or get them back to sender?

If you and the sender have access to a Confluence document, you can both edit concurrently online.  There's no "sending" of the document, as it is online and in the browser.

Once you're happy with all the changes (by everyone, if you're working at the same time), click "save" towards the bottom right and it'll save everything, instantly available to anyone landing on the page.
