I often times @mention myself on a page so that my Task page (click on your name and then choose Tasks) is automatically filled in as a Action Item list.
For example, if I'm having a discussion with somebody and I'm taking notes, if there's an action item I want to assign to myself I'll put @Mitsu Bishi action_item as a note, which then shows up on my Task page.
That no longer works. My Task page continually says "You don't have any tasks to complete". It worked around 4 weeks ago.
Why?
Hello @scott_fawcett !
As I understand, you need to assign tasks to yourself and it is not behaving as expected.
By reading your question, I was able to try and replicate the behavior described:
- Create a new page
- Mention myself
- Add text right after the mention
- No task was added
After that, I dug a little into our documentation and found this description on how to create Action Items:
Action items - Add action items by using the Action items button in the toolbar and mentioning another user. Whoever you first mention on that line is assigned the action item.
You can check this excerpt and all the rest of our document here:
Moving forward I was able to find this page:
I followed the instructions there:
- Create a new page
- Call a task (via toolbar or [] shortcut)
- Mention myself
- Publish the page
- Check my Task list
After doing so, my tasks correctly show up:
Editing Page
Viewing Page
Task List
With the above in mind, I would like to ask a few questions:
- What happens if you follow the procedure described in “How do I create a task?”article?
- Is this affecting other users as well?
Looking forward to your reply.
That works. I didn’t realize it had to specifically be an Action Item to pick up the mention. I was taking notes using bullet lists, which is when the actions come up, so I’ve been adding them as bullet items.
ive since added as Action Items and all is well again.
thanks
