Dear Confluence community,
I used Confluence Server App on iOS 12 without any issues. Talking about App version 1.4.1.
I used it with Confluence 7.1.1 hosted by myself (ubuntu Server 18.04), using HTTPs/SSL. I installed the root cert on my iOS 12 device and installed the exact same root certificate on my iOS 13 device.
When trying to connect to the server, the message "Can't get a secure connection" is showning up immediately. Even when uninstalling confluence, uninstalling the profile/cert, reinstalling the cert (and trusting it of course) and reinstalling confluence, the same issue happens. So everyone can not use the Confluence app when he upgraded to iOS 13 unfortunately.
iOS 12 still works perfectly. Can I do something about the 13-issue or does Atlassian need to update the app?
Many thanks and best regards
Wolfgang
Hello Wolfgang,
Thank you for contacting us about this. The Can't get a secure connection error does tend to mean that the app has an issue with your certificate. I assume you have already gone through the steps from that article to check the issue.
Apple has changed the security requirements for iOS 13 and macOS 10.15 for TLS server certificates. That might be the reason that it's no longer working for you.
See Apple's documentation, Requirements for trusted certificates in iOS 13 and macOS 10.15, for more details on those changes.
Regards,
Shannon
Sounds reasonable. I‘ll try generating an according certificate. Sorry for suspecting the app.

Only thing that does not comply - see lst paragraph of the Apple documentation: Connections to TLS servers violating these new requirements will fail and may cause network failures, apps to fail, and websites to not load in Safari in iOS 13 and macOS 10.15.
That would mean, I would not be able to access my confluence server via Safari either. But I can.

Wolfgang,
If you're able to confirm that your SSL meets the new requirements, we can proceed from there. I haven't yet heard of any other users having issues with iOS 13 and the mobile app.
It appears to me that problems may occur in Safari 13.0 according to their article. It's best to narrow-down any issues with Apple's new requirements before we can proceed.

Shannon

The App is not the issue. Your server certificate has to meet the Apple requirements. Mine did not. Now it does. Everything works fine.
perhaps you should communicate that to avoid further questions.
Many thanks and best regards.

Hi Wolfgang,
Thank you so much for confirming that. I've suggested the following update to our documentation as a result:
Let me know if you have any questions about that!

Shannon
