Hello
I only use bash and syntax highlighting vanished from our code macro, how can we get it back?
thanks and regards
Stefan
Hi @Stefan Locher ,
Well, since Bash is a supported language for syntax highlighting, I have no reason to believe it doesn't work.
Nevertheless, if syntax highlighting has vanished, this could be due to a configuration issue, a recent change, or a bug.
I'd suggest trying out the following:
- Make sure you have selected "Bash" as the language in the Code Block macro settings.
- Try with a smaller code snippet to see if highlighting returns.
- If the issue persists for all Bash code blocks, regardless of size, check if any recent changes or upgrades were made to your Confluence instance.
There's one open bug that might be related to this, although it's for cloud and not for DC: CONFCLOUD-81755: Confluence - Code Block Macro in Page Rendering | Large code blocks (e.g., 1.5MB) cause slow page rendering due to syntax highlighting
I don't have a sandbox DC environment at the moment to potentially test this out..
I'd also recommend checking if you potentially upgraded Confluence in the last couple of days (since the issue started occurring) to check if that caused the problem you're experiencing. 👀
Cheers,
Tobi
Hello Toby, thanks for reaching out to me! Sorry I did not express clearly, the bash option is entirely missing in the dropdown when creating a new code entry. Older entries still show language = bash, but there is no syntax highlighting anymore. As you suggest it probbably has to do with the a version change which happened some weeks ago. I will verify this and let you know.
regards
Stefan
