how to create a list view using macros on a confluence page?  i am looking for a vertical chevron list type to insert on a page and have hyperlinks to the text in there.

Try draw.io or lucid chart from the marketplace. The fist allows you to store you data on premise the second one has a little better user experience but forces you to go into the cloud. We recently switched to draw.io for privacy reasons. Both work well and can replace PowerPoint or Visio in many cases.
