Hello,
I have performed a cloud backup of our cloud confluence. This backup is over 9GB in size. I would like to import this backup to another Confluence instance for test purposes. These attempts have always failed so far. Are there any instructions on how to perform a Confluence restore and what to bear in mind?
I would like to carry out the restore with board tools and not buy a paid extra add-on.
Thank you very much!
Hi @Paul Wodarz ,
Welcome to Atlassian community!
As per my understaning, you are looking to import your confluence data in another instance.
In this process, there is some size limit Site import in Confluence Cloud is restricted to a maximum 200 megabytes for the uncompressed XML files inside the backup zip file. This is the 'data size' of the backup.
What if the size limit is exceeded?
Please find the below document, It will help you to proceed the next process.
As per the mentioned by @Charlie Misonne .

Hi Paul,
I assume you are importing the backup in another Confluence Cloud instance?
The backup you created contains zip files. Unzip it and check whether the XML files are not larger than 200MB. That's the limit for restores.
If they are larger you will have to move the spaces individually. This has been described on https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/merge-multiple-confluence-cloud-sites/
If they are smaller than 200MB and you do not see any specific errors I would recommend to contact Atlassian support https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/
Atlassian is also working on a Cloud to Cloud migration utility: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CLOUD-11495
