I can set/unselect the <<Notify watchers>> check box when I am editing a page in Confluence. When unselected, the Watchers only get the Daily Update if they have subscribed to Daily Updates in their email settings. Selected they get an instantaneous email notification every time I click the Save button. All good.
But what about page Comments and In-line Comments - there does not seem to be any way to prevent instantaneous email notifications - changing your page edit "notify" tick box has no effect on either type of comment.
Am I missing something?
Hi Rodney,
check your notification settings in your profile & don't WATCH a page you've contributed to (Autor, Editor, Comments), so switch off Autowatch and you're done.
I also suggest looking into the free addon No Email Storm in the Atlassian marketplace.

No - I don't think that helps at all. That would stop ME from receiving notifications.
I will check out No Email Storm.

No Email Storm looks like it helps when you are editing a page ... but it doesn't do anything when you are Commenting on a page or InLine Comemnting

No, I don't want to turn it off completely - just be able to select some option that means all the other Users don't get notifications instantly I write a Comment/inline Comment, i.e. they only get the Daily Summary

They'll get the daily summary anyway, if the activated it. You cannot disable notification on comments as a comment writer.

And that is precisiely the problem ... I can disable instantaneous notifications on page editing by unticking the Notify Watchers - some of my users have said it would be handy to have the same when writing a Comment - I guess it is actually like Creating a page as you cannot disable notifications for that action

Hi, we have the same issue. Our team of editors can't use the In-line Comments to discuss possible updates as we don't want to confuse our readers before the change is approved/implemented. Readers also don't Comment in-line as they don't want to bother 1000 people with their questions and would prefer to have only the page contributors notified (+ @ mention).
This makes this nice feature about useless in my opinion.
