approval workflow and version changes

For confluence data center, can we achieve below points on the system.

1. Approval Workflow Automation
   1. Built-in workflow automation for review, updates, and approvals before publishing to production (for all formats mentioned above).
   2. Documentation team to send the new/updated pages/articles for review to approval team, get feedback and update accordingly.
   3. Final version to be approved by approval team and information maintained in the system (name, date/time stamp)
   4. History of updates/reviews/approvals.
2. Version Control and Comparison
   1. Capability to compare versions and highlight changes made as part of the version.

Let's start with version control - this should be possible with native functionalities such as this one: Page History and Page Comparison Views

As for approval workflows, natively you probably won't be able to get what you're looking for. The 'best bet' would be to check Marketplace apps designed for this: Marketplace / Confluence / "Approval" 
I maybe tested one or two of these from the list, but it was a while back, so I'm guessing there have been some changes in the meantime. It would be best to check it out yourself. You can also reach out to vendors directly > they will probably reply if what you're looking for is possible or not with their apps. 👀

On Data Center, if you're looking for version control (semantic versioning) combined with document approval workflows, take a look at the combination of 

• K15t's Scroll Versions
• Comala Document Management

Yes! Like Tobi flagged above, most of this is achievable in Confluence Data Center, and made much much easier with the help of a Marketplace app.

Approvals for Confluence is available on DC (and Cloud) and covers the core pattern you've described:

• Submit a page (or specific section) for approval, with named approvers or teams
• Approvals locked to the page version, so the exportable audit trail shows who approved what
• Minimum-approver thresholds and expiry dates for periodic re-sign-off
• Approvals Search and dashboard to track what's pending pre-publish

If you need full multi-stage workflow automation (Draft → Review → Legal → Approved → Published) with custom statuses and major and minor page versions, you'd be looking at the sister product Workflows for Confluence which is admittedly Cloud-only.

For DC, though, Approvals for Confluence might just be the right fit for you! Can give it a go for free from the Atlassian Marketplace :)
