Why won't the sidebar content folders open?

I have my personal sidebar content organised into project folders. But when I try to click on the folder arrow to open it and access pages inside that folder, it doesn't do anything. I have to click sometimes 10 times, to hit the correct spot for the folder to open below, or otherwise I hit the folder name, and it loads an overview page of the folder name and the content files inside, which I don't want.

It seems there is some sort of CSS overlap issue or UI here which is blocking me from opening the folder structure, but it's very frustrating when I can't access the contents inside, especially when I click the folder name by mistake and the page render time is slow to load the folder name page and then I have to start the clicking process all over again in the side bar to try to access the inner folders.

Hi @Kelly Elizabeth Hutchison ,

On top of what Marc said, there are a couple of performance-related issues that might be affecting this too (although the first recommendation would be to try using a different browser + to check if other colleagues are experiencing this too):

The second link also filters features & bugs by sidebar component so you could browse those too.

It could really depend, & performance sometimes isn't that great when you have a lot of nested or bookmarked content.

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi there,

Thanks for the replies. I have tried in igcognito mode, and it does actually load the UI a little faster and then allow me to open and close the side menu more easily.

I think the issue here is definitely load speed, now that you both mention performance, I see there is still a loading spinner in the browser tab, even though the page appears to be loaded, I can't access folders in my sidebar until the spinner disappears.

The articles you've linked though mention 100s of pages , which I simply don't have. I have 12 free standing pages, not nested inside any folder but listed under my general content. Besides this, I have 9 folders, which may contain a whiteboard, or a page and a whiteboard inside. I hardly see this as overkill content which should delay loading performance by so much.

But if that's what it is, I'll just sit and wait for it to load before i try clicking in frustration.

Thank you for your time and concern

Hi @Kelly Elizabeth Hutchison

Can you try another browser or incognito window, does this improve the handling?

If it does, clear your cache and cookies, also if browser add-ons are used, disable them it might be one on them causing the problem.
