Why is the system assigning the new user email address as their full name now?

Chelsea Lovelace June 23, 2017

I noticed that when creating a new user in Confluence Clould, there is no longer a field allowing you to enter the user's full name-just their email address & groups.  If you try to go in and edit the user after creation, it won't allow you to change their full name- it's automatically generated as their email address.

email: cannot be changed

username: can be changed, but will log the user out

full name: cannot be changed, it automatically populated with their email address

This is super annoying... is anyone else noticing this issue? Can this please be put back to the way it was before??

Thanks.

It sounds like your instance was migrated to Atlassian Accounts. According to Atlassian login issues: "You can no longer use usernames to log in to Atlassian account enabled instances."

It is unlikely that the migration will be reversed, as it was done to provide more functionality. Here are details on what changed for administrators: Administer Atlassian accounts

I guess this answers the question of why this happened but doesnt solve the problem or provide a workaround.

when I'm adding/creating users I dont want to have the full name be the email and have that be locked.

1. how can I change users that were created with this problem already

2. how can I create them correctly in the first place.

the links you provided show the field as editable but in fact they are greyed out.

any help is apreciated!
