I wrote a document in my space, then tried to move it over to my team's space, but I wasn't allowed to.
I have all of the needed permissions for the destination space (view and create items), and of course the source page is my own page, so I should be the "admin" of that, right?
https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/move-copy-and-hide-pages/
I ended up copying and pasting the contents into a new page, which worked fine, but I don't understand why the "move" didn't work.
Hi @Steven Mcgrew ,
Good question, and the error wording here is misleading. This isn't a move-permission problem, and it's not about being admin of your own page. The message is telling you the real reason: the page is restricted, and you don't have rights to create restricted content in the team space.
A couple of things are getting mixed up:
First, "Add pages" and "Restrictions: Add/Delete" are two separate space permissions. You've got the first in the team space (view + create), but not the second. A page keeps its restrictions when it moves, so Confluence checks whether you can create restricted content in the destination, and that check fails.
Second, being admin of your own page only counts on the source side. The block sits on the destination side. You can edit the page's restrictions in your personal space all you want, but that gives you nothing in the team space.
Why is the page restricted in the first place? Something applied a view or edit restriction to it at some point - could be you, could be inherited from a restricted parent page. Click the lock / restrictions icon on the page to see exactly what's set.
Two ways out.
Clear the restriction, then move (this is what the error is nudging you toward):
1. Open the page in your personal space.
2. Click the lock / restrictions icon near the top.
3. Set it back to unrestricted.
4. Move it. Re-add restrictions in the team space afterwards if you need them and have the rights.
Or, if you'd rather keep the restriction on: ask an admin of the team space to either move it for you, or grant you the Restrictions: Add/Delete permission there (Space settings > Permissions).
That's also why copy-paste worked. A copy is a fresh page in the team space with nothing attached, so there are no restrictions for Confluence to block.
Gotcha, thanks for the explanation.

It seems the content you are trying to move is containing some restrictions (edit or/and view) based on the error message you posted.
You may not have the right to set restrictions on the targeted space (your team's space)
Then remove all restrictions on your page in your personal space before doing the move action. (some documentation here : https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/add-or-remove-page-restrictions/)
