Why can I not add a column macro to my section macro?

The instructions for the column macro state "Must be used within a Section Macro." But when I add the column macro (with my cursor inside the section macro) the column macro appears outside of the section macro. I publish and nothing seems to happen.

Also, I cannot create a panel macro within a section macro. When I add it, it appears below the section macro, and I cannot drag and drop into the section macro.

Anyone know what is going on?

Hello there, @Alex Pickard ! Nice to see new faces around.

So, looking at your issue description I understand that you are facing issues with Macro Nesting. This is not limited to the Section + Column macro combo. This stems from the fact that we are not able to nest bodied macros in the New Editor (Fabric). Here is the report on this:

The term “Bodied Macros” encapsulates all the macros that have the ability to display content from within the macro itself. Hence the incompatibility between Section and Column macro.

The documentation that we currently have, points towards the Old Editor (tinyMCE), which is why it points out to the usage of both of these macros together.

The first line in our document says the following:

Used with the Section macro to define columns on a page.

This usage can be replaced with the fact that Fabric (our new editor) is based on columns. By default, the editor will display a Single Narrow Column. We do have the possibility of expanding it by clicking the <- -> symbol at the top right corner of our text field in the editor.

Beyond the one column, we can add more columns with the Layouts. Inside layouts, we can surely add the Column Macro and work from there.
