Hello Atlassian Team / Community
Last year we migrated Jira & Confluence to Atlassian cloud.
Now We are currently working on migrating pages that contain Tabs macros to child pages with Static Card Layout: Creates 3-column grid of child page links on parent page.
We would also like to explore possibility of using Expand macro instead of creating child pages, this way users dont have to move between child pages.
we would like to know
1. Does Expand support nested macros
2. which macros are supported inside Expand macro.
3. which type of attachments are supported
Regards,
Rupendra
The Expand macro is pretty limited in Confluence Cloud. It supports basic formatting and most standard content, but not every macro works inside it. Nested macros can be hit or miss, and anything dynamic or legacy usually will not render correctly. Attachments will show if you use the normal file link or preview, but more advanced macros around files will not work inside Expand. If you want something more flexible, breaking sections into child pages or using cards is still the safer option.
@Rupendra Vengurlekar I agree with you! It would be nice if Atlassian updated this page with this information: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-the-expand-macro/

i did check couple of documents by Atlassian but did not find any document that covers what is supported and what is not supported by Expand macro

@Rupendra Vengurlekar The only thing that I find is this article from March 2024, which lists things you will soon be able to nest in an expand that is itself nested in something else (if I'm interpreting it correctly). I can't find anything later where it says that the features are available.
