When you share a Confluence page via email, what happens if the recipient replies to that email?

Is the intention that the email is just a notification about the page, and any discussion should be atatched to the comments below the page, because the message when sending isn't visible any more on the page and any email responses aren't saved...

You are absolut right. The email are just for information and the replies doesn't change anything on the page.
