What is the differentce between Team and Group in Jira?

Hi! pretty new to Confluence here.

Can anybody help me undersand what is the difference between Groups and Teams ?  

I'm aware that Groupes are created by the Admins and used  to attribute permissions. However I have trouble understanding the use of a Team ? 

I have a french Confluence so maybe i'm translating wrong the names but in French it is "Groupes" and " Equipes" .
