Hi There
I have about 25 documents that I need to share to my team via Confluence. I'd like to know what is the best method of sharing documents in Confluence. I tend to think SharePoint is a known method, but I don't have it. Is it good to load documents in Confluence? Where does it store the documents?
I do not want a situation in future where the document storage runs out in Confluence.
Curious to know what is the widely followed approach to share documents via Confluence.
Hi @Arul Subramaniam and welcome to the Community.
What do you mean by 'document'? Is it a file or an actual text document?
While Confluence is not designed to be a file sharing service, you can simply attach all files to a single Confluence page and direct your team members to this page.
If it's a text document, just create a Confluence page for each of these documents (in a single space, ideally) and point your team to that space.
Obviously, your team members must have access to Confluence, or you need that page publicly available (public link, anonymous access for the entire space).
I would recommend using smart links. This way the document is displayed in the content tree and viewable in confluence while still living in say, sharepoint.

A common best practice is to link documents from external platforms like SharePoint or OneDrive. The SharePoint Connector for Confluence app provided by Communardo Products, makes this easy, you can embed live documents, preserve SharePoint permissions.
Your team will always access the latest version of each file without needing to switch systems or worry about manual updates.
All the best,
Klaida

This is Alex from ikuTeam. You can also use a marketplace app to integrate your Confluence instance with SharePoint. With our app SharePoint Connector for Confluence (Microsoft OneDrive) you'll be able to embed, preview and edit files from SharePoint directly in Confluence without using Confluence storage space - you can learn more in this guided tour.
