Hey guys,

I have a question regarding Confluence @4.2 about long links. This problem happened way long back. When I try to insert a link in any page, when it is probably over 255 characters, the link is lost when saving the page.

This long link problem happened to JIRA as well when using a custom field, but is possible to fix by changing the size of the field from the database.

For Confluence, i really don't know what the workaround is, because the URL is added via Link > Web Link. But when I preview/save, the link is there, but not clickable. When going back to Edit mode, clicking the link and Go to Link works.

My current workaround is to use TinyURL or Google Link shortener.

Help. Thanks.

Update/expand the database schema for the custom field to have varchar or whatever type that is larger than 255 characters.
