We have a child company splitting off officially, but continued work on the project will be occurring in both companies. We are trying to find a way to move managed user accounts over to the child company, and change those user's domains in the process while still retaining the same access to project items like Jira and Confluence. Is this possible, or do we have to start with fresh accounts and re-initiate access into each item individually?
A SAML SSO like Okta would be the best solution, I guess as it would allow you to handle domains on the Okta side and provision the users to Atlassian apps (products) at will.
You can also experiment with creating new Jira and Confluence sites within your Atlassian org - those would have stand-alone domain name, their own pool of licensed users but, as they'd be a part of the same Atlassian org, and you'd use Okta SAML SSO, you could easily manage which users are only in Confluence A, only in Confluence B, and/or in Both.
