I am working on building out Confluence to use for an internal resource and to grant 1-2 individual users read/view-only access but I don't want the site to be publicly available for anyone to see its contents.

Are there security access setting where I would need have to procure license for everyone since I would be the only user with edit permissions.

Hello @Ardo Panian

Adding to the information provided by @Victor Law - Ricksoft :

  1. Note that the use of Guest access is intended for external entities that need access to the information, not internal entities that are members of the company that owns the site.

  2. Additionally a Guest is allowed access to only one Confluence Space at a time and must be individually granted access to that individual Space. Guest accounts do not have access to the entire site.
  3. And finally note that guests cannot necessarily see everything in Confluence. Refer to this for more information:

Rather than using the Guest option I recommend that you grant those few users licensed access to your Confluence site, and then restrict their permissions such that they can only view the information.

Hi @Ardo Panian

Welcome to the community.

Since you want to restrict access to internal users, you can probably consider the following option:

  • Confluence guest users (5 guest users per paid license only)
  • IP Allowlist that restricts to the office network (only available for Premium or Enterprise plan)

Thank you.
