Users license

Janis Harbour October 8, 2012

I undestand that a license is required for each user that 'logs in'. I will be the only user who logs in to update a user manual that we want to manage using Confluence.

Everyone else will just view the manual in read only. To read the manual will everyone else be required to log into Confluence i.e. will they be considered a user?

When a user is using Confluence while not logged in, they are using it anonymously.

In the admin section of Confluence you can enable anonymous 'USE' permission, allows non-logged-in users to browse pages and spaces in Confluence.

Thanks for responding.

Sorry so confused. All i want is for me to create a manual and have my colleagues look at like they would read something on a web page. I just want to give them a url style link to my manual that they can view in their browser.

Would the 10 User license ondemand cover that? I have 50+ collegues who may occasionally (probably rarely) look at the manual that I create.

Many thanks

As Be Do has already said, if you allow "anonymous" access, then anyone will be able to read your Confluence.

This does not take up any of your license seats. Only logged-in users take up a licence.

Hi,

you can (for a hosted/on-demand setup of Confluence) use anonymous users (not logged in). This users do not count for your license.
For the user count, please see: http://www.atlassian.com/licensing/confluence#downloadlicenses-6

For the setup of on-demand-confluence with anonymous users, see https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Managing+anonymous+access#Managinganonymousaccess-EnablinganonymousaccessinConfluence

(see the note in the header: (Haken) Anonymous users do not count towards your license.)
