Use email id or unique cec id instead of full name for tagging resource with @ mention

When we try to tag someone on confluence using @ mention. It shows up the full names but in case of multiple people having same full name, all names are shown and as an user its confusing whom to select. Only after selection one can hover the mouse over the name to get the exact id and confirm whether its the right tagging or needs to be changed. Can we show the email id / CEC also along with the names to make the tagging easy on confluence or Jira.

Unfortunately, you cannot change the visualization/display of whatever is shown when searching for other users. The only thing by which you could distinguish two users with the same name is the avatar, and that's if they have a custom one (profile image and such).

Like, there are a couple of similar Jira requests:

• JRACLOUD-84698: Request to be able to search throughout Jira Cloud using email addresses for mentions, assignee, etc. within Jira Cloud User type-ahead searches 
• JRACLOUD-93690: Ability to differentiate users with similar names in user picker field 

But I couldn't find anything specifically for Confluence. 👀

What you could do (your Jira or Confluence admin), is to reach out to Atlassian Support - with them, you can discuss your requirements and they can do another scan of the open suggestions and see if anything applies to what you're looking for. If not, they will probably create a new feature request and share it with you.
