Hallo,
After upgrading confluence from 6.7 to 6.8 i always get the screen with:
Confluence had problems starting up.
According the logs there are no more errors:
2018-03-28 12:25:32,649 INFO [localhost-startStop-1] [com.atlassian.confluence.lifecycle] init Confluence is ready to serve
First upgrade i got errors on the database connections and the proxy .
I corrected these errors and I can not see any errors in the log anymore.
However i still get the screen "Confluence had problems starting up"
marc
Hallo,
I also found the error in the logs, overlooked this before,
But later the log tells me all it fine an confluence is running.
As far as i can see the sql database is also updated,
marc

Marc,
It's very similar to the error you posted earlier, but I found another line:
Caused by: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The database name component of the object qualifier must be the name of the current database.
This should resolve your issue:
If it does not, could you please let me know the answers to my questions earlier:
Could you share with us what steps you took in order to upgrade, and what steps you took to correct the problem?
Lastly, what database and version are you using?
Lastly, please make sure to add your reply to the original thread, so they stay in order and make it easier to read.
Kind regards,
Shannon

Hallo,
Sorry for the late reply.
The confluence is situated on a virtual server.
So a toke a snapshot before the upgrade ,
After each fase I returned to the original and corrected it,
took a new snapshot and worked on like that.
These were the errors I corrected.
The database is microsoft sqlserver 2014 with update confluence 6.8 from 6.7
1) restored former server.xml
2) added named pipes to sql server + enabled sql browser
3) changed pw confluence user for database ( problems with "/" in psw)
4) database name is case sensitive , so i changed both ( sql + conf ) to lower case
5) added right sysadmin to sqluser
Now is up and running.
Best regards,
marc

Marc,
Can you let us know what procedure you took to update Confluence thus far? Could you show a screenshot of the page you are seeing?

Thank you Marc,
So this is what you're seeing after you corrected the other issues? There should be at least some information in the logs; I know you said there were no errors but is there anything that says INFO that's associated with the problem?
Could you share with us what steps you took in order to upgrade, and what steps you took to correct the problem?
Lastly, what database and version are you using?
Final note, please put your replies under the reply field and not under Suggest a new answer so that everything can flow in one thread and be easy to read for future users that might come across this thread.
Regards,
Shannon
