Hi!

Couldn't find information regarding how the data is moved from one wiki to Confluence. Is the data cached somewhere during the transfer? The reason I ask is that our IT want to know if our data is safe while moving our articles.

Hello @Finn Hatlen!

As I understand, you need to migrate your content from a wiki into Confluence. Going straight to the point, we can tell you this about the Universal Wiki Converter:

  1. It an open source project
  2. It was developed with Confluence Server in mind
  3. It has been archived since 2012: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/archive/14575
  4. The Universal Wiki Converter is not a complete solution for all migrations

You can check more details here:

Importing content as is from another wiki into Confluence can require heavy scripting and customization of services so it can be worked on. With this in mind, I would like to ask you a few questions:

  1. From which wiki do you need to migrate from?
  2. Is it a on-premises solution or cloud based?
  3. What kind of content do you need to maintain?
  4. Did you reach out to your current wiki support team about this migration?

Also, according to the Universal Wiki Converter page, you should be able to contact Brian Thomas for additional information on the converter:

2. On-premise

3. General documentation which many are business sensitive.

4. Yes, hence I had to follow up regarding how the data is treated,

I'll contact Brian regarding the last question.
