Does the Atlassian Confluence Wiki allow you to track page views, in particular pages with zero views? (We're currently living on Confluence 7.4.8). We're using an in-house analytics tool to track page views, but it's only able to detect pages with one or more views.
A significant number of Wiki pages are created within our space (e.g., drafts), and then never published, and as a result not viewed by other users (i.e., only by the author). It’s important to be able to capture these zero view pages, so they can either be archived, deleted, or updated and published.
On a side note, how is the zero page view data collected by Confluence (or plug-in / macro)? When a Wiki page is first created by an author, is that considered a "page view," or does a different user have to visit the page in order for the event to be recorded?
Thanks!
Hi @mschwirzke
First of all:
If a draft is created, there is no page and therefore there is never any page view.
Then, Confluence do not have any page view statistic in confluence server, just in confluence cloud. See the documentation here.
If you want to track the page views in confluence server, you need an app, like Page Views.

Hi Dominic,
I appreciate the quick response and helpful information. To recap, a new page is considered a "draft" until the page has been published (i.e., author clicks the Publish button). Once another Wiki user views that published page, then it's officially counted as a page view.
We may be moving to a newer version of the Atlassian Confluence Wiki in the near future (it could be the cloud version), providing us with the ability to track page views.
One follow up question: Can apps like Page Views track pages that are still in draft form and / or have zero views?
Thanks,
Martin

Hi @mschwirzke
To your follow up questions:
As I said, a draft can't be viewed. A draft opens always in edit mode and will never have a view. So the answer is no, no app can do this.
I can't tell you whether you can check zero view pages with those apps. We do not use them.

Thanks, Dominic ... appreciate you answering the follow-up questions regarding the app's ability to detect draft / zero view Wiki pages (do some additional investigating on my end to see if pages with zero views can be detected).
Cheers,
Martin
