Too many notification mails about comments

Hi! We use confluence for academic education at our design faculty, providing study materials, posting assignments and exchanging and commenting the results.

That means we have pages that get a lot of edits and comments in a short amount of time. Like 20+ edits and 40+ comments a day. That created far too many emails to the subscribers of the page. I changed the Send batched notifications scheduled job as described here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/email-notifications-145162.html. Notification mails about page edits are now reduced to two per day.

BUT we still receive too many notification mails about new comments! They still seem to be sent out immediately when a comment is posted somewhere on the page. The forum page I mentioned above says the scheduled job is about the "window for changes and comments".

Is there a way to reduce the notification mails about comments as well?

I know this trouble very well.

I'm irritated when you're writing we? Do you mean several people are getting email notifications or is it you? 

There are different ways to get less notifications:

• When it's your account - check your settings for notifications
• Don't watch/fave all spaces - sites
• Let the users know that not all changes must be sent field 'Notify Watchers' when working together on a site

Or did I get something wrong?

I‘m sorry I didn't explain this more clear. Here is the story:

I set up a regular page with the assignment on it. My students (around 20) work on it and have some kind of result, like a JPG or a PDF. They edit the assignment page and put their result on it. Once they do, the automatically become "watchers" of that page. I know I can turn this of but I WANT the students to be notified. After I set the "send batched notifications" scheduled job to only fire twice a day, my students (after editing the page) and myself are getting a reasonable amount of email notifications about the page edits. So far, so good.

But my students after putting up their results. ALSO give feedback on this page by commenting on the results of the others. That works extremely well and everybody loves it. But all watchers of the page (nearly everybody) get a notification email about a comment IMMEDIATELY, not when the scheduled job fires. So we all get like 50 mails a day about each of the students' individual comment.

Is there a way to change this? Have the comment notifications in batches as well?
