Tip of the month for all registered jira / confluence users

TEAM_EBS Lufthansa Technik August 23, 2012

Is there a way to send the tips of the month (which are great) to our registered jira / confluence users? Send all our users to atlassian to subscribe for the tips isn't suitable for us.

Maybe there is an plug in for it?

Hi Wilm!

A newsletter like the "Confluence daily summary email" would be great

You should suggest to your users that they sign-up for the JIRA and Confluence Insiders newletters to recieve product-specific tips, tricks, and product updates.

You can see the contents of the first volume of the JIRA Insiders newsletter here. The first volume of Confluence Insiders will be sent in the next few weeks.

Hope that helps, Wilm.

Or simply copy/paste the content that is received in the newsletters to an internal mail listing that Wilm has.

Not sure how that's more efficient than allowing the user to choose if they want to recieve the newsletter and having their own option to unsubscribe at anytime?

Hi Wilm,

Glad to hear by implication that you're finding the content useful! I take it you think it would benefit your end users to read them, is there anything specific you're trying to achieve? eg: Increased adoption, reduced help calls etc?

I'd love to hear what makes it unsuitable for you to send your users through to the blogs, is it just the problem of explaining and getting everyone to gollow the right steps, or other issues?

How would you like to see this work in the products ideally to suit your needs?

Hi John,

I think there are nice little tips in the tip of the month posts, that can help our users to use more of the great features in your software. The last "JIRA Tip of the Month: Dot and Comma Dialog Shortcuts" is a good example. You can find all the information in the manual, but who will read the hole manual?

In my opinion the bolgs are more for administrators and not for end users. The tip of the month is only a small part of it. I don't think that a user needs information about how to build a plugin or the new features of software we didn't offer them.

A newsletter like the "Confluence daily summary email" would be great. It's important, that the users can subscribe/unsubscribe the newsletter eg via the profile settings. JIRA and Confluence will download the tips from your site and deliver it to the users.
