Update: The issue is no more happening. Something changed and fixed.

Following is the issue.

When a Confluence template includes the macro "/variable", the template stops working. The steps to follow:

  • Click "Create" and choose "Page".
  • When in the edit mode, click on "..." and choose "Templates and import".
  • Choose a template that happens to include the macro "/variable".

Expected result: Screen comes up with prompt to add value of the variable. And when "Create" button is pressed, the edit mode populates the page with the template content and is ready for publishing.

Actual result: A screen comes with the template name and "Create" button at the bottom as expected. Clicking on "Create" takes you to the edit mode - but the template text is NOT populated.

It has started working! Not sure what happened - was it a temporary issue or it was fixed.

Hello @Abhay Patil , does it still work for you as of today? I'm using a template containing variables, it asks for input for the 3 variables that I have, but once I click on "Create", then all locations where variables are supposed to appear are empty.

Thank you

I have stopped using variables, but as I recall it started working at that time when I checked. As I mentioned, it just started working. It may have got broken again!

Hi @Abhay Patil , @Elie Théocari - Thelysma ,

looks like there was a bug related to this feature, but it was fixed already.

I've checked on my site and it is working as expected :)

It appears that the macro "/variable" is the culprit. Removing that macro fixed the problem. Will ask our admin to file a bug report.
