×I usually manage my tasks from my Tasks page, rather than in individual docs. For the last two days, I will check off a task on the list, a strikethrough will appear, and a confirmation will pop up that I've completed a task, but when I return to the task list again or reload the page to see my refreshed, what I would expect to be shorter, task list, the tasks I crossed off appear again, unchecked.
Others on my team are having the same issue. Please advise.
Hello @Michelle Alimoradi
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
I too saw this problem while working with one of my past clients. I escalated to Atlassian Support. Upon investigation they said the root cause was this known and unresolved bug:
Intermittent discrepancy in task status between Confluence Cloud page and backend
The fix required Atlassian Support to execute a direct database update statement to fix the discrepancy for the specific user that was reporting the problem.
Hi @Michelle Alimoradi 👋🏻
First of all, Welcome to the community!✨
I have seen this happening to multiple users.
To fix Confluence tasks not disappearing after being checked off, try a task data resync by following the below steps :
Trigger task data resync in Confluence pages
Publish the original and report pages (no actual changes are needed - the publish action should trigger a task resync).
Mark the tasks complete in both the original and report pages (uncheck > check then again). This should also trigger a task resync.
Consider using the new editor if you're still on the legacy one.
If this doesn't work, it's likely a persistent synchronization problem, and you should try unchecking and re-checking the tasks in the original page and the task report, then resyncing by publishing both pages again. If these steps fail, you contact the support team.
Refer this documentation for more details.
Hope this answers your question! 😊
Thanks,
Anwesha

Hi @Michelle Alimoradi ,
What you’re describing sounds like a recent bug with Confluence tasks. When you check them off, the change should persist after refresh — they normally don’t disappear immediately, but they should remain marked as completed. If they are reverting to unchecked, and others on your team are seeing the same thing, it’s most likely an issue on Atlassian’s side rather than with your setup. I’d suggest raising a support ticket so Atlassian can confirm.
Just curious — do you mostly use the My Tasks page to track everything, or are these tasks usually managed directly within pages? Knowing that might help others share temporary workarounds.
