Adding a TOC to the sidebar displays a nice TOC but the links don't work and populate a "page not found" error. Has anyone found any fixes to this? I know it's a recognized issue (https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-43090) but it's unassigned and low priority with no answers in 5+ years so hoping someone has figured it out. Using Datacenter 9.5.4.
Hi @Skye DeStefano ,
Unfortunately, this is a known limitation/bug in Confluence Data Center when using the TOC macro in the sidebar, and there is no supported fix at this time.
As documented in CONFSERVER-43090, the sidebar TOC generates anchor links that do not resolve correctly, which results in the “page not found” error. This behavior is still present in recent Data Center versions, including 9.5.x, and Atlassian has not provided a workaround or patch.
What most teams do instead:
Avoid using the TOC macro in the sidebar
Place the TOC macro in the page body, where anchors work correctly
Use manual links or a Page Tree macro in the sidebar as an alternative
Until Atlassian addresses the underlying issue, the sidebar TOC is not reliable in Data Center environments
