Our organization loves the Confluence wiki, but some people have trouble navigating the hundreds of pages. They often get lost (like surfing on the web).
Is there a nice way to make storylines with a sequence of pages?
Yes we could do this by making a page for a storyline and add all the links to this page, but maybe there is a better, more beautiful way of doing this.
Usually, I don't start by recommending a third-party Marketplace app right away, but your specific question reminds me of this one: Guided Pathways (Decision Trees, Page Navigation & Journeys)
I hope it can be of use or give you some inspiration.

I was going to suggest the same app as @Dave Mathijs :)
If you don't to go that path (pun intended :) ) you can always organize the content into multiple spaces, or simply use the tree structure of the single space more efficiently.
For example - with the product documentation content, you can organize it by components (our approach https://docs.emplifi.io/ - we use Confluence and then Scroll Viewport to build the site). Or you can choose to do so by goals that users are trying to accomplish.
I can even imagine using conditional content (content variants) - you have one pool of articles but create variants (think 'virtual spaces') of that content to cater for different needs. Example: you can have a variant of the content by role/level (managers, administrators), or by region (Americas, Europe, Asia - there'd be a pool of shared content but people could choose to see that + content specific for Europe).
Try to define the storylines that you want to present and the structure will emerge. You can then decide whether you can accomplish that in Confluence alone or with an app.
