So up until recently we have been utilising the Global Templates to create our pages in Confluence. Our administrator has now advised that we need to transition to Space Templates.
My current experience so far is that the Space Templates are quite limited in formatting options compared to the Global options.
Additionally it would seem that there are a few bugs when using Google Chrome.
- Unable to edit the template in Chrome. The edit page does not load.
- No text wrapping, instead needing to scroll across the page rather than just wrapping down the page.
- Checkbox text does not grey out when checked off.
- Formatting in general is quite limited.
Has anyone got any suggestions in how to make this experience less frustrating.
Hi Davin,
Editing Template Pages
Microsoft Edge Space Template Edit Options - See below.
Google Chrome does not support the Edit of templates under Space Settings > User Created Templates. I can access the list of templates, however, when I click on Edit of that particular template the screen goes nowhere.
Editing Published Pages
Microsoft Edge - Has the above edit options on a published page also.
Google Chrome - Has the below options for Global Templates which have been published.
Essentially the ability to indent text is not available. This is particularly evident with the Checkboxes and the dot points. We are now unable to have multiple levels of either of these.
The text colours available in the Space Template are very limited compared to the global template. There is only 7 colours and don't include standards like Red and Dark Blue.
With checkboxes, when you check the checkbox, the text no longer greys out anymore. It stays the same colour.
The TOC option in edge seems to have a bug as when the site is published and you click on a heading it goes to the heading and then straight back to the top of the page. This does not occur in Chrome.
These are only some of the items which we have encountered.
If you are able to provide any solutions or context that would be greatly appreciated.
Global template and space template should have the same features. The only difference is the scope in which they are available. Are you seeing this issue in only Chrome or are other browsers affected? Do you have any screenshots that you could share that show the issue?
