Hello, I am having some trouble using Confluence Smart Values in Confluence Automation.
I have created an automation that can be triggered manually from a page. Triggering the automation prompts the user with a form to ask for some input, which is then used to create a Jira issue in a specific project:
The goal of this rule is to ease the creation of specific requests for the team that manages them.
According to the official documentation [link], the Actor of the rule cannot be changed. As a result, every issue created through this rule has me (the Actor) as the Reporter and we have to rely on asking for contact details on the form when we could set the Reporter of the issue to the user who is triggering the rule.
I am trying to work around this by using Confluence Smart Values. Specifically, the User properties. Unfortunately, it seems like the rule cannot access the smart values. I added a Log step to display information about the user and it returns empty values:
If I cannot access the User through Smart Values, what other options do I have?
Thank you
The documentation has been updated and it now includes the "Initiator" smart value: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/smart-values-in-confluence-automation/#Initiator
Using this smart value I can get the information I need.
