Trying to use a Smart Link column on a database to show links to Github PRs, but all links show up as Restricted Content. Atlassian cloud is added as oauth integration to my github account, do I need to get my company to link to github? Anyone else faced this issue and fixed it?

Hi Sajid,

I would check two layers here:

1. Can the same user open the PR directly in GitHub?

2. Does that user have access to the repo/PR, especially if the repository is private?

For Smart Links, Confluence can sometimes recognize that the URL is a GitHub link but still show restricted content if the current viewer cannot resolve the details from GitHub. The Atlassian Cloud OAuth connection is one part of it, but the GitHub-side access still matters.

A quick test I would try:

1. Open one of the PR links directly in GitHub while logged in as the same user.

2. Paste that same PR link into a normal Confluence page outside the database.

3. If it works on a normal page but not in the database column, then it may be specific to the database/Smart Link display.

4. If it shows restricted content in both places, I would focus on GitHub repo permissions and the Atlassian Cloud GitHub authorization.

So yes, if this is a private company repo, it may require the right GitHub access or app authorization on the company side, not only your personal OAuth connection.

Yes, the repo is private but I have access to it.
